The Brake Man, the innovative designer and manufacturer of made-in-America brake systems and components used by motorsport champions and record breakers, introduces Talon-A brake systems specifically designed for asphalt and paved oval track Late Models and Super Late Models.
Talon-A Oval Track Late Model brake systems are complete, bolt-on brake upgrades that deliver unmatched stopping power and mid-corner performance, especially during long duration events and on short tracks. The Brake Man has already been a mainstay with Late Model drivers and teams on regional oval tracks and nationwide series including multiple-champions Lowell Bennett and Dennis Long along with ARCA up-and-comers like Chad Hackenbracht.
“There is no margin for error in motorsports so that’s why I turn to The Brake Man,” states Rod Pool, former crew chief for Jack Roush, Lyn St. James plus many NASCAR and Trans-Am teams, who now works with 3-time consecutive track champion Dennis Long. “The Brake Man has performance and durability nailed, making my job that much easier.”
“Oval track racing brings with it a unique set of braking demands,” notes Warren Gilliland, President and Chief Engineer of The Brake Man. “The Brake Man Talon-A brake systems handle the nearly constant sharp-corner braking on a packed track while giving drivers the stopping precision, mid-corner speed, and reliability needed for taking and holding the lead.“
Talon-A Oval Track Late Model brake systems by The Brake Man are direct bolt-on solutions for all popular spindle and hub designs Complete Talon-A systems include brake calipers, brake rotors, brake pads, and residual pressure valves.
The systems start with the industry’s original zero-drag calipers, F4 Tornado™ calipers by The Brake Man, featuring an internal design specific to Talon-A . F4 Tornado calipers are made from high-strength, high-temperature true billet forged aluminum with a hardened steel center section then hard-coated for corrosion resistance. Optional titanium pistons and center sections are available for the maximum in lightweight performance. Standard F4 calipers meet cost rules laid out by the sanctioning bodies of most oval track series.
This 4-piston caliper’s patented design delivers the lowest flex and highest specific torque output of any available Late Model brake caliper. The result is zero pedal drop, even at extreme temperatures, while eliminating pad taper and wedging. Eliminating brake drag lowers operating temperatures and improves mid-corner and exit speed. Superior engineering provides longer component life while an innovative modular construction simplifies repair or conversion. Dual transfer tubes improve internal fluid circulation and bleeding. Talon-A brake systems utilize front symmetrical bore calipers in 1.75” or 1.87” piston sizes and rear symmetrical bore calipers in 1.50″ or 1.38″ piston sizes.
Talon-A brake systems come standard with ProCast vented brake rotors for optimum cooling efficiency. These feature high-quality castings subjected to The Brake Man’s proprietary Dynamogenic™ thermal treatment for longer life and resistance to cracking and warpage. An upgrade to the Talon-AR brake system switches toThe Brake Man’s ultra-lightweight Revolution convoluted rotors front and rear. Designed to maximize strength while minimizing rotating weight, Revolution rotors are the most effective lightweight rotor on the market today and are virtually impervious to warpage.
A choice of The Brake Man’s Compound #84 or #85 brake pads is also included with Talon-A braking systems. These oval track brake pads are designed for superior high temperature performance and wear with quick bite. The Brake Man offers a wide range of brake pad compounds tailored to specific driving and track environments which can also be packaged as part of these brake systems.
The new Talon-A drag racing brake systems for oval track Late Model and Super Late Model racing are available now through race performance chassis builders and aftermarket retailers or directly from the company.
